Change & Change for the Better Are Two Different Things

Okay, what's up with replacing our roads with bricks!? BRICKS!!? Laaish!? Honestly! It's very noisy and very uncomfortable driving on it and it really doesn't do the cars justice. When this first started a while back I was told that it was because a member of the royal family bought the brick company so they wanted to "eymashoon" the product. Another story was that it was easier to remove and replace when maintenance is needed for the pipes. Personally I think the second is more likely. Nevertheless, which country makes roads out of bricks after the 16th century!?

Btw, what's the word for "gar" in English? Asphalt? Concrete? something else?

  • i believe the word is asphalt. They say it is better for the cars mathalan when they brake and stuff. But it's also definitely bcz some idiot wants to yemashee the bricks ely 3enda.

  • looool.
looks like you have many bricks and they don't know how to make use of them.

OR maybe that road will become a future road for pedestrians and you are still not aware of that fact. :P

  • Its manufactured by national industries co. which is a publicly traded company I doubt that a sheikh has anything to do with it for the sake of fairness. I think it would be cheaper than asphalt if they had maintenance in those intersections once they finish and redo it , like half what it would cost if they would do it with asphalt. But yeah its annoying then again that’s Kuwait. Get used to it!!

  • actually the bricks do have a longer life and durability on intersections than the 'gar'. If u noticed on some old intersections, the road becomes a bit wavey due to heavy trucks and busses which pass by and stop at traffic lights. which makes it realy dangrous for cars when passing on an average speed. The bricks come to offer a more flattened surface as time passes, plus as some stated it is cheaper, faster, and easier to replace.
As for the Shiekh thing, I also heard that it was a 'munaqa9a' granted by wasta to some well connected person, afterall they're only rumors.

  • Yeah, I am assuming you mean 'tar' when you say gar. Maybe it is a local tire, axle and suspension company sponsoring it?
